We are a group of individuals starting our journey of service with a place many of us call “home”: the village of Pokhrama in Bihar, District Lakhisarai. We aim to launch our projects in Pokhrama, and as we gather experience, take our Foundation to other villages in Bihar, and then Uttar Pradesh.

Dr. Anil Sethi
Dr Anil Sethi is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Trustee, Pokhrama Foundation. In his previous avatar, he worked in several universities in India, UK and Japan. These include Azim Premji University, Bengaluru and the National Council of Educational Research and Training, New Delhi, where he was Professor of History and History Education. Anil has written for and helped develop various History textbooks published by the NCERT. He has imparted enrichment to education professionals within the country and abroad, notably at Seeds of Peace, Maine, U.S.A. He has also led N.C.E.R.T. missions to Sweden and Afghanistan.
Anil took his PhD from the University of Cambridge, U.K., where he was a Commonwealth Fellow. At the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Tokyo, he was a Centre for Excellence Fellow.
Swati is a lawyer practising in New Delhi. She specialises in dispute resolution with her main area of interest being bilateral investment treaty disputes and international commercial arbitrations.
Hemant is an Editor in the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.
Post completing his MBA degree in Finance from Pune University, Sowmen has worked in different finance roles with companies like Hindustan Unilever, Larsen & Toubro, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. He was part of the Dr Reddy’s Laboratories USA for approximately 4 years, mainly working on acquisition and initial finance department and policy set up for an acquired plant of Dr. Reddy’s Lab in USA. He is presently working with Slayback Pharma India LLP, a pharma company which is in to the development and commercialization of complex generic and speciality pharmaceutical products. His area of expertise is in Mergers & Acquisitions, Insurance, Accounting & Finance.
Bharti Rawat was raised in Delhi. She teaches English, Hindi and Environmental Studies. She has a B.A. Honours in History from Ambedkar University, Delhi and an M.A. in Education from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. As part of the M.A., Bharti taught at different schools in Bengaluru and also conducted extensive educational fieldwork in different parts of the country.
Mesang Sherpa hails from Darjeeling, West Bengal. She teaches English, Math and Computer Programming. She holds a B. Com. from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh and an M.A. in Development from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. During 2016-17, she was a Vidya Vahini Fellow and teacher educator at Sai Gurukul Academy, Pakyong, Sikkim.
Vaishnavi Mohan holds a BE in Civil Engineering and an M A in Education, the latter from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. She has been a Teach
for India Fellow. During this fellowship, she worked as a teacher in a government school in Chennai for two years. She worked as a School Transformation Lead (STL) for a year at MANTRA, a Bengaluru-based not-for-profit. Vaishnavi has also worked with the Social Welfare Department of Andhra Pradesh as an Academic Fellow, looking after the effectiveness of educational programmes and policies. At the Pokhrama Foundation Academy, she teaches English, Early Literacy and History.
Seshadri S holds a B. Tech. in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. He has worked as a design engineer in the hydropower sector and the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala. Here Seshadri helped develop multi-skilling training centres called Community Skill Parks (CSPs) with state-of-the-art facilities across Kerala. His passion for teaching and school administration drove him to the Pokhrama
Foundation Academy. At the Foundation, Seshadri teaches General Science and Geography and is helping with the construction of our campus. He is also passionate about History and History Education.
Pravin Subhash Wankhede
Pravin Subhash Wankhede comes from Jalgaon, Maharashtra. He teaches Hindi, Environmental Studies and Theatre. As part of his B.A. in Social Work at North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, he specialised in Community Organization and Development Practice. He went on to do an M.A. in Development at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. He has worked as a volunteer for the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan; as a freelancer for projects of the National Aids Control Organization; and as a Coordinator with Team Tarunnai in the Melghat tribal region of Maharashtra.
Md Farid, from Darbhanga, Bihar, teaches Math, Hindi and Physical Education. He took a B. A. Honours in History from Delhi University and an M.A. in Education from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. Farid has worked as Social Studies Resource Person at the Meghe Group of Schools, Nagpur; as Academic Coordinator and Math teacher at Aarohan, Delhi; and as Block Coordinator at Samavesh, Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh.
